Darkwing Tech® PTL-TAC IR Safety & Marker Light for Helmet & Body-Worn Gear
The Darkwing Tech® PTL-TAC IR Safety & Marker Light is a compact, low-profile, multi-use identification and safety light designed for helmet-mounted and body-worn applications. Built for modern law enforcement, public safety, and tactical environments, the PTL-TAC gives operators precise control over how, when, and to whom they are seen—both visibly and in infrared.
Engineered with night operations in mind, the PTL-TAC supports users who may be operating with or without night vision devices, while still needing to remain identifiable to teammates, command elements, or aerial units. Its small size, multiple mounting options, and multi-mode output make it ideal for patrol, training, and operational use.
Designed for Night Operations & Controlled Visibility
Infrared light is invisible to the naked eye, often leaving operators unsure whether the light is active. The PTL-TAC addresses this with a built-in, ultra-dim activation indicator that confirms the device is on without compromising position. This indicator is intentionally subtle and can only be seen within inches to a few feet of the operator.
The PTL-TAC features dual-wavelength infrared output (850nm and 940nm), allowing compatibility with a wide range of IR-sensitive cameras, drones, and aerial platforms. This gives ground personnel the ability to be identified from above without requiring costly personal night vision equipment.
Built for Patrol, Public Safety & Aerial Awareness
The PTL-TAC is especially well suited for patrol officers and ground personnel who are not routinely issued night vision but may operate alongside drone units, aircraft, or other IR-equipped assets. Operators can activate IR modes for aerial identification or switch to visible colors when overt visibility is appropriate.
Visible red and blue light modes provide additional options for identification, signaling, and safety during traffic control, perimeter operations, or coordinated responses.
